Marco Polo was born in Venice,Italy, one of the most successful trading cities of medieval Europe. Marco Polo was raised till he was 15 years old with the absence of his father. The reason why was because his father would be traveling throughout Europe and Asia, so Marco wasn't able to see his dad. When Marco Polo was about 17 years old, he was ready to start being a trading merchant traveling around Asia. When Marco Polo went to his first trading city Mongolia, he started to work with the emperor Kublai Khan Kublai Khan gave Marco Polo ivory, jade, jewels, porcelain, silk, and other treasures to trade for him.

Marco Polo was famous during his lifetime for all the important traveling he had done. He traveled to Cathay, China, and worked for Kublia Khan. He was appointed as governor of one of the cities in China. He was one of the most greatest trading merchants at that time.
